One teenage youth was found dead just days after being wrongly blamed of taking the cremated remains of a deceased infant during a break-in, an inquest has learned.

Tragic Discovery

Kai Lloyd's mother and father found his body in his room at his Flintshire residence on November 19th, 2021.

False Allegations Start

The investigation heard how his parent received a communication on 8 November 2021 via online platforms, from a woman asking if Kai was her offspring. The message stated: "Inform him thanks for breaking into my flat."

In a testimony presented to the proceedings, Lisa Lloyd said the woman had been in the news, claiming her infant's ashes had been taken in a burglary - a allegation which was false.

Police Investigation

An official inquiry from police later determined the alleged burglary complainant had "provided false information" and "it now appears that the items was never taken in the beginning".

Media reports about the supposed taken ashes generated social media comments, and although the teenager was not named in the messages, his mother said people "knew it was him".

The "online posts were extremely distressing", she stated.

Emotional Health Effect

She explained that her son had been diagnosed with moderate attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that disorder, other individuals' views really mattered to him.

"It would have affected him severely," she commented, "particularly when this was not true".

The teenager was arrested at his residence, but nothing was found. He was transported to a police station and later released pending further inquiry.

Police said they would be in contact, the inquest learned, but had not contacted the relatives by the moment of his passing.

Isolation and Anxiety

His parent said her son "withdrew into himself" after the detention and "would keep asking me whether I had received anything from the police", because his condition meant sometimes "certain periods could feel like much longer".

When she talked to him about the alleged burglary, she said her child informed her he had entered the house because the woman who lived there had said he could utilize the bathroom whenever he needed, but denied removing anything.

Online Harassment

In a joint statement between her and her spouse, Mrs Lloyd said her child was being bullied digitally after the allegations.

The proceedings heard that a young adult encouraged Kai to kill himself.

She had no concerns on the night before he died, explaining how she had heard him "laughing and teasing".

She described him as a "caring, affectionate" boy, and said her "family is completely devastated".

He had been "clearly hiding his worries", she said, adding that he could not stand to have anyone "have negative thoughts of him".

Educational Reaction

The hearing received testimony from school staff at the local secondary school.

On November 8th, she "heard some boys discussing that Kai had been detained and that was the first I learned".

"He told me... he'd was innocent," she continued.

After the discussion, the educator said she rang Kai's parents' landline and left a voicemail saying she had communicated to the student about the allegations.

The court heard his parents said they did not got that communication.

Formal Conclusion

Lead coroner told the hearing he would wait for documents regarding what improvements had been made to dealing with suspects with the condition, before deciding whether he should make a avoidance of subsequent fatalities report.

Delivering a narrative conclusion, he stated: "Approximately 8 November 2021, unsupported allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a 14-year-old child.

"Probably falsehoods were afterwards embellished and exaggerated through the platform of online networks.

"On 11 November, he was questioned by the police and following his interview he was released while inquiries proceeded."

The official determined: "There is no proof that the acts or omissions of any organization led to or added to his passing and although it was the result of a personal action it is impossible to determine his purpose."
