Hodgkinson Concludes Campaign with Victorious Performance at Athlos in New York

Keely Hodgkinson concluded her two-lap campaign with a win at the women-only Athlos meet in NYC on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who earned bronze at the World Championships recently, dominated an outstanding win in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a season affected by a hamstring injury.

Fellow Briton and global silver winner Georgia Bell took the runner-up spot once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua M. (one minute 58.57) claimed third.

"I haven't competed much this year so it was probably easier for me to compete and want to give it something," stated the 23-year-old.

"The environment at the event is incredible so it was really, really fun."

The female-exclusive event packed the stadium in its second year, bringing a festive vibe to traditional track, with musical performances and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting standard medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena W., who is wed to the founder of Athlos Alexis O., was present to award the winners with their crowns.

Previous champions received sixty thousand dollars (£44,603) - among the biggest cash prizes in athletics.

The competition also attracted several top athletes, as Kenya's triple Olympic champion and global record breaker Faith K. won the mile, finishing in 4:17.78.

American Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze medallist from the recent Paris Games, secured the 100m and 200m double.
